VA Save Our Streams is expanding throughout the Chesapeake Bay Watershed!
As a Service Provider in the Chesapeake Monitoring Cooperative, the IWLA is able to provide Save Our Streams training throughout the lower Chesapeake Bay Watershed. The Chesapeake Monitoring Cooperative connects Community Science initiatives across groups and regions in order to amplify voices and enhance our understanding of the health of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. To accomplish this, we provide technical, programmatic, and outreach support in order to integrate volunteer-based water quality and macroinvertebrate monitoring data into a centralized data hub, the Chesapeake Data Explorer. These data are publicly available and used by the Chesapeake Bay Program to assess the health of the Chesapeake Bay and watershed.

Maryland Monitoring Permit
All SOS Monitors will need to secure a scientific collection permit from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Be sure to have your permit with you at all monitoring sessions. Before applying, check with your monitoring coordinator to see if your group is already covered.
